Quick Verdict

Apollo.io is the most accessible all-in-one sales intelligence platform on the market — a 210M+ contact database bundled with email sequencing, a dialer, and intent data, starting at $49/user/month. For email-heavy outbound in North America and Western Europe, it delivers genuine value at a fraction of what ZoomInfo costs.

The catch is the credit system. The moment your team needs mobile numbers at volume, the sticker price stops being the real price. Active outbound teams consistently report spending $150–$400/user/month once overage charges are included — and those overage rates aren’t disclosed until after you sign up.

Best for: SMBs, solo SDRs, and early-stage startups running email-first outbound who want to avoid stitching together separate data, sequencing, and dialing tools.

Not for: Teams doing high-volume phone outreach, companies prospecting heavily into APAC or LATAM, or buyers who need predictable billing.

Pricing

Apollo offers four tiers plus a custom enterprise option. All prices below reflect annual billing; monthly billing adds roughly 20%.

PlanAnnual (per user/mo)Monthly (per user/mo)Mobile Credits/moExport Credits/moNotes
Free$0$0510Gmail only; 1 intent topic; 2 sequences max
Basic$49$59751,000Intent data, A/B testing, Gmail + Microsoft
Professional$79$991002,000AI email writing; Advanced Dialer is a paid add-on
Organization$119$1492004,000Call transcription; custom reports; 3-user minimum

Email credits: All paid plans include “unlimited” email credits, but this is governed by a fair-use formula — the lesser of your annual plan cost ÷ $0.025, or 1,000,000 credits/year/account. On a Basic annual plan, that works out to roughly 23,500 emails per year — fine for a solo rep, tight for a team.

Credits don’t roll over. Unused mobile and export credits expire at the end of each billing cycle.

Overage pricing is not public. Third-party sources report a range of $0.03–$0.20 per additional credit, depending on volume. You’ll only see your rate after becoming a paying customer.

Organization minimum: The Organization plan requires at least 3 seats, making the entry cost $357/month on annual billing before a single email is sent.

Key Features

210M+ contact database with 30+ filters. Search by job title, company size, industry, technology used, location, seniority, and more. The database is the core reason teams use Apollo; the sequencing is the reason they stay.

Multi-step email sequences with A/B testing. Available on all paid plans. Build multi-touch campaigns, test subject lines and body copy, set reply-based branching, and track opens and clicks — all without leaving Apollo. No separate sending tool required.

Buying intent data. From Basic upward, Apollo surfaces companies actively researching topics relevant to your product. Useful for prioritizing outreach to accounts already in-market; the Basic plan includes one intent topic.

AI-assisted email writing. Professional and above includes AI tools for drafting outreach, populating custom fields from contact data, and running AI research on prospects (e.g., pulling recent news or LinkedIn activity into a template variable). Currently offered as a free introductory feature — Apollo’s release notes use that language explicitly, suggesting it may be paywalled later.

Built-in dialer. A basic click-to-call dialer is included on Professional and Organization. The Advanced Dialer (parallel dialing, local presence, more analytics) is a paid add-on at an undisclosed price.

Call transcription and conversation intelligence. Organization tier only. Calls are transcribed, searchable, and can be used for coaching. Comparable to what Gong and Chorus offer, though less mature.

Chrome extension. Find and export contact data from LinkedIn profiles and company websites. Works on all plans, including Free.

Workflow automation. Trigger sequences, enrich records, and route contacts based on rules — without writing code. Available on Professional and above; more powerful on Organization.

Website visitor identification. De-anonymize website traffic and surface the companies visiting your site, available on paid plans.

FAQ

Is Apollo.io free? Apollo has a free plan with no time limit, but the limits are low — 5 mobile credits and 10 export credits per month, with a fair-use cap on emails. The free tier has been silently reduced in the past. It works for occasional lookups, not for sustained outbound campaigns.

How does the Apollo.io credit system work? Each data export consumes credits: 1 credit per email address, roughly 5 per mobile number. Credits reset monthly and do not roll over. You can purchase additional credits, but the per-credit rate is not published — third-party reports put it at $0.03–$0.20 depending on volume, which you’ll only see after becoming a customer.

How accurate is Apollo.io data? Strong for North America and Western Europe. G2 reviewers consistently flag degraded accuracy in APAC and LATAM, with outdated job titles and invalid phone numbers cited frequently. If your target market is in those regions, request a sample before signing an annual contract.

Does Apollo.io have a dialer? Yes. A basic dialer is included on Professional and Organization plans. The Advanced Dialer is a paid add-on at an undisclosed price. If calling is central to your workflow, ask for the add-on cost in writing before signing.

What happens if I want to cancel? Annual plans auto-renew. Seat reductions are not permitted mid-term. To cancel, submit a request through Plan Overview in-app or email support@apollo.io. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your billing cycle — not immediately. Set a reminder well before your renewal date.
